Deirdre is a professor investigating the anthropology of well-being at the Keough School at the University of Notre Dame and a consultant to the "ALIVE!" Project at Rush Hospital. She also curates and facilitates contemplative and mindfulness programming and retreats at Fernwood Botanical Gardens. She has been Director of YOGAglow studios since 2005 and has taught yoga and mindfulness meditation techniques since 1998. Deirdre completed the two year advanced teacher training program and Seminary at the Chicago Temple of Kriya Yoga, apprenticed with Dynamic Yoga Teacher Godfrey Devereaux in Ibiza, Spain, and is certified in Ayurvedic nutrition and peace circle process.
She is currently a lead researcher on the Well Being at Work Project which supports humanitarian and global health workers with its focus on cultivating emotional resilience and somatic awareness to prevent burnout and created a "Compassionate Leadership" series for these workers. Her continuing education has been in Viniyoga Therapy and Yin/ Restorative. She has helped facilitate yoga and story-telling workshops and retreats in Scotland, Mexico, California, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Bahamas and locally at the Snite Museum Sculpture and Fernwood Botanical Gardens.
